2024 Kids Fishing Day A Great Success
This poster illustration for 2024 Kids Fishing Day is courtesy of talented club member Ryan Blessing.
Dozens of kids wore cheek-to-cheek smiles at the 2024 version of the club’s longstanding event to introduce local youths to sport fishing and inspire them to a lifelong interest in the outdoor sporting life.
Thanks to a crew of club members and volunteers the kids enjoyed landing some nice rainbow trout while spending time with parents and grandparents. The excitement was fortified with hot chocolate and donuts plus, later on, lunch of hot dogs with lemonade and chips.
The club stocked the pond with some impressive fish, mostly larger than in past years. The bigger sizes ramped up the atmosphere as hungry rainbows slammed baited hooks, giving kids their first fish-on experience with a rod tip bobbing furiously as trout ran across the pond while parents and grands offered expertise about how to land the monsters. Some of the adults were at least as excited as the kids.
The largest fish measured was 20”. It was landed by Northport’s Jay Craker. The smallest fish measured was 15.5”
Many thanks to club members who gave gifts to help underwrite the day. Thanks, too, to these generous community supporters:
